"Do you remember these things?"
THESE AIN'T COLTS!
Centerline Lookbooks, 2003, CD-ROM, 35MB* "Between the years 1953 and 1983 there was a rash of single-action revolvers
introduced due to the renewed interest in the American west as portrayed in an
endless number of television western series. Most of these handguns were
made in Italy, Germany, or South America, all trying to attain the design and
romance of the original Model P Colt Single-Action Army "cowboy gun."
None achieved that goal, and the efforts of most of them were short lived. There
is an interest in these old pieces today, however, and some firearms collectors
are always seeking more information about these early come-and-go models.
BOOK
REVIEWS A copy of this See-Dee was purchased by an agent with BATF (U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms), in Washington, DC, to help identify some old model single-action revolvers they often receive from police departments around the country who simply call them all "cowboy guns." Personal communication with this agent was very interesting, but his comments and name will not be shown here for discretionary reasons. -- C.L.
